How hot does it get for a porta potty in Dallas–Fort Worth?

Dallas–Fort Worth has a normal July high of 95.6°F and averages about 20 days a year at 100°F or hotter, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. The first 100-degree day usually comes around July 1 and the last around August 27. In 2011, DFW hit 71 days at 100°F.

How does heat change porta potty service?

Heat speeds up bacteria and evaporation in the waste tank, so odor builds faster. For a unit used by more than 10 people a day from June through September, we recommend a second weekly service. Each visit pumps the tank, adds fresh deodorizer and restocks paper, which keeps the unit usable in the heat.

Where should a porta potty go in summer?

In summer, place a porta potty in afternoon shade, such as the north or east side of a building or under a tree with no low branches over the roof. Face the door away from the afternoon sun. Keep roof vents clear. Shade lowers the inside temperature and slows odor.

Do summer events need more porta potties?

Yes. PSAI suggests 20 to 30 percent more units for events at 80°F or hotter, because guests drink more water. In whole units, add 1 unit for every 4 on the chart. A 500-guest, 6-hour event that needs 7 units in spring needs 9 in a Texas summer.

From our customer callsA homeowner booked one standard unit for a month-long remodel starting the next day. For month-long summer jobs like that, we suggest adding a second weekly service from June to September, since one unit serves the whole crew in the heat. (From our recorded calls, 2025–2026.)

Heat safety for crews

Hot job sites need water, rest and shade along with restrooms. Crews who skip water to avoid restroom trips raise their heat risk. Put the porta potty and a hand wash station close to the work area and the water cooler, so workers drink freely. Service the unit often so crews will use it.

Quick answers

Do porta potties smell worse in heat?

Yes. Heat speeds odor. Shade and extra service fix most problems.

Can I get a second service only in summer?

Yes. Add it for June through September and drop it after.

Do restroom trailers handle heat better?

Trailers have A/C, so they stay comfortable, but they need a 20-amp circuit.

What deodorizer do you use?

A blue tank treatment added at every service.
