Renting a Porta Potty for a Home Remodel in DFW

Do I need a porta potty for my home remodel?
You need a porta potty for a home remodel when your only bathroom will be out of service, when crews should not use your indoor bathroom, or when your city requires one. Southlake requires a portable restroom on job sites unless an indoor toilet is available, and inspections can be withheld without one.

How many units does a remodel need?
One standard porta potty covers most home remodels with up to 10 workers on site and one weekly service, based on a 60-gallon tank. OSHA allows 1 unit for 20 or fewer workers. If your family will also use it while the bathroom is out, consider a deluxe unit with a sink.
Where should it go at my house?
Put a remodel porta potty on the driveway or a level side yard near the work entrance, at least 10 feet from windows, within about 100 feet of where our truck parks. In Highland Park, place it at the rear by the alley, or screen it on 3 sides if it is visible from the street.
Highland Park code §3.01.003(b)(1) requires front- or street-side-yard units to be "screened on a minimum of three sides by cementitious fiber boards or panels" (Highland Park Code).
How is a remodel rental billed?
A remodel porta potty rental bills every 28 days, includes one service visit a week, and renews until you call to end it. Delivery and pickup are billed once. If the job ends early, call and billing stops that day. Our 2026 estimate for a standard unit is about $140–$210 per cycle.
Remodel checklist
Before your remodel unit arrives, ask your contractor how many workers will be on site, pick a level spot near the work entrance, check HOA or city rules, and book a day ahead to skip the same-day fee. Tell us the contractor's phone number so the crew can request extra service directly.
Quick answers
Will my contractor provide a porta potty?
Ask. Many include one in the bid; others expect the homeowner to rent it.
Can my family use the unit?
Yes. A deluxe unit with a sink is nicer for family use.
Does an HOA need to approve it?
Some HOAs set placement rules. Check your HOA guidelines; Castle Hills, for example, keeps architectural review.
What if the remodel runs long?
The rental renews every 28 days automatically. No paperwork.
